1. What inspired you to run for public office, and what positive changes do you hope to bring to your district/state if elected?

I served 18 years as a public servant, first as a SEAL in the U.S. Navy, then at the Department of State and Department of Homeland Security. During those years, I saw first-hand how broken our policy is overseas and at home. As a SEAL deployed in Afghanistan, I watched the Obama administration gut our rules of engagement, putting American lives at risk for the sake of their political agenda. At the State Department, I was tasked with protecting, and ultimately came to know, high level politicians, diplomats, and government officials. It was during that time that I truly realized how corrupt and disconnected from the American people many of our leaders have become. At DHS, I served in an oversight role over medical first responders on our southern border as a Division Director. I had a front-row view to the Biden administration’s systematic disassembling of our border policy, the loss of operational control, and the ensuing disaster that this administration has created.

I’m running for Congress because I believe that our leadership is broken and corrupt. More importantly, I am ashamed that my children and grandchildren will feel the impact of the current disastrous decisions being made in Washington D.C. I believe strongly that our country needs a fundamental course correction in nearly every arena of policy if we want our children to grow up to experience liberty and prosperity.

2. Can you share the three most important issues facing your district/state, and how do you envision working collaboratively to find solutions that benefit everyone?

The most important issues facing Virginia’s 7th are crime, the rising cost of living, the lack of transparency and accountability in government and the continuous erosion of our fundamental liberties.

Our southern border is wide open, and democrat leaders have stifled the ability of law enforcement to provide safe communities. The combination of those two factors is directly contributing to rising crime rates across the district, due to a decreased ability to enforce the law. Over time, we have witnessed increased access for cartel activity to peddle fentanyl, human trafficking, and violence into our communities. Furthermore, radically progressive prosecutors have become emboldened in declining to hold offenders accountable.

Due to policies of this administration, our people have seen the highest inflation rate in decades. Coupled with supply chain issues and other market factors, Americans in Virginia 7 are watching the cost of nearly every necessity and commodity skyrocket. The role of a Republican held Congress should be to block the Biden administrations economic policy and wanton additional spending, to decrease the capricious burden everyday Americans are bearing in their daily lives.

Across the country, the American people are fed up with the sheer corruption in Congress. We elect representatives to advocate for our interests, and those representatives proceed to prioritize their campaign coffers and their reelection bids higher than anything else. If we truly want to correct the course of our country, we are going to need to audit government programs to cut wasteful spending. Unfortunately the overwhelming majority of our elected representatives won’t consider spending cuts. Ultimately, we need representatives who will care less about raising money and staying in congress, and more about what is best for the people they represent.
