1. What inspired you to run for public office, and what positive changes do you hope to bring to your district/state if elected?

I grew increasingly concerned as I watched transgender ideology spread throughout our schools. I watched women losing, over and over, in sporting events to biological men. My daughter wrestles for her college, and I realized that she could face the choice of losing her scholarship or risking injury by wrestling a biological man. We have worked too hard for women's rights to allow women and girls to be erased.
While it’s important to protect biological girls and women from this ideology, that is just the tip of the iceberg. So many bad ideas have crept into our society in recent years. Unfettered immigration, rolling back gun rights and eliminating bail would be a few others. No one likes the odds of taking on an entrenched Democrat in a blue state, but I want to make a stand and put up a fight. I know I can raise awareness of issues that wouldn’t get talked about if I wasn’t in the race. If elected, every decision I make will be informed by conservative values, and I will work tirelessly to bring responsibility and common sense to public policy. I want people to have better health, better roads, better jobs and better lives.

2. Can you share the three most important issues facing your district/state, and how do you envision working collaboratively to find solutions that benefit everyone?

The theme of my campaign is Restore California. I believe that we can take this old, beat-up state and make it something we can be proud of. There is a huge amount of work to do, and it won’t be easy.
I want to restore our economy by reducing spending, lowering taxes and making this a state that companies want to do business in. Companies don’t want to be here any more. Each month, an average of six companies move their headquarters to another state. Surveys show that we have the worst business tax environment in the country, with the exception of New Jersey. Our energy prices are the highest in the continental U.S. When companies leave, that means fewer jobs and lower tax revenues. My training in college was in economics, and I am equipped to analyze and begin to fix these problems.
I want to restore safety in our beautiful state. Crime is a growing problem that affects us all. I want to live in a state where we don’t have to lock up the shampoo in drug stores to keep people from stealing it. Where shoplifters can be arrested, prosecuted and sent to jail. Where drug dealers can’t do business in broad daylight on our city streets. Where cops and courts can do their jobs. According to the San Francisco Chronicle, only 4 percent of the suspected drug dealers the police arrest in the Tenderloin area of San Francisco get convicted. We need to bring back bail for most crimes. And if district attorneys won’t prosecute criminals, they need to lose their jobs.
I want to restore housing in this state so everyone has a place to live. Homelessness is a huge priority for me. We see people living in cars and tents lining the sidewalks and bike paths. In San Rafael, near where I live, there is a woman running a gym who has to keep the door locked during business hours because of all the homeless people constantly in front of her store. Nearby, another store has a huge sheet of plywood where the window should be because a homeless man threw a rock through it. In the same neighborhood, the grocery store has hired extra security to follow people around in the store to deter shoplifting, and they have removed all the shopping carts from the parking lot. We have to find compassionate, sensible solutions to this problem. We need to get people the care they need and get them off the streets.
