1. What inspired you to run for public office, and what positive changes do you hope to bring to your district/state if elected? | This is my second time running for Senate. Currently I’m an independent alderman for the City of West Chicago and a homeschooling mother of 2, since 2020. In my current position I am but one voice when it comes to financial spending that constantly goes up. People have cried on my shoulders when getting petitions on how they cannot afford to live in our State, put food on the table and they weren’t sure if they would be able to keep their homes when taxes were due. We need to stop the extra spending that continues from the federal grants no longer being received due to the pandemic. Promises need to be kept when grants are given to cities or organizations. These days I know as an Alderman, we wait for “approved grants” (that come around only prior to elections), 4-5 years later. With this economy, the cities can no longer afford the projects that were proposed and drafted. There needs to be proper follow through. Even the excess spending for teachers to get “equity training” costs our district $22k per teacher! It’s unheard of. Much of everything goes under the radar due to language barriers. Items passed went through prior to recordings. I use to go to their meetings and translate them for our city’s parents/public. Transparency is needed. I am the only person that votes “no” every year on a “levy” and I attend the school board meetings to vote “no” on their levy’s as well. People need to know prior about voting and their rights to be heard. |
