1. What inspired you to run for public office, and what positive changes do you hope to bring to your district/state if elected? | The ideological capture of our schools and the low expectations for our children disguised as being equitable are why I have decided to run. I do not subscribe to a victim narrative, despite being a person of color who grew up in the foster system and I don’t think manufacturing victims is good for any child. USBE has been called to make many decisions about diversity equity and inclusion and seems to be OK with a reductive view of its students. I believe we can right this ship excellence and focusing merit. |
2. Please identify the top three critical issues facing your state, and how do you envision solving them to benefit the communities in your state? | Social, emotional learning- we need to understand that social emotional learning is about creating a mono-culture one in which there is no liberty. Critical race theory-I have renamed this critical resentment theory. it includes far more than race and it’s absolutely about the beautiful things in our lives. Teaching kids to look for problems. Everywhere is extremely damaging and adding race or gender is reductive. I believe we need to teach children to restore and practice gratitude rather than grievance. Mental health- in 2014 Michelle Obama pushed to make school counselors, social justice change agents most parents don’t know this and think that a school counselor is simply there to provide academic guidance. I’d like to return to that policy rather than one that divides families encourages children to give up culture and religious values. |
