KEY ISSUES | |
1. Provide the top 2 reasons why you want to run for school board? | Im running for school board because I believe that we are on a path to destruction. When only 48% of our third graders can read on grade level you have to wonder how they can do anything thing else. My family came to this land in 1611 to Jamestown and I want our children to be taught the real history of this great country that we live in. I want to stand up for the conservative beliefs this country was founded on. I believe I am the right person for such a time as this. I also want accountability with the taxpayers money and to ensure our children are safe at school. |
2. Name the top 2 issues with your current school board or district and how you will address each issue. | #1 is reading. We need to ensure that our students are being taught how to read properly. Whole language instruction has been a disaster. All K-3 teachers should be trained in the Orton Gillingham methodology so that they understand how to teach reading. Students should not be passed on who cannot read. |
3. Do you support school choice? Why or why not? | Yes! School choice is important so that parents have control over their child's education. Unfortunately in PBC our private schools have long waiting lists. This is another reason I decided to run because we need to make sure we are providing an adequate education for those who are still left in public school. |
4. Who do you think is the ultimate authority in a child’s education and wellbeing? | Until a child is 18 years old parents have the responsibility for all aspects of the child's life and should be informed about any and all conversations that the child has with an adult. There should be nothing kept from the parent except in cases of abuse which should be reported directly to the proper authorities. |
5. Do you agree with the statement “America is inherently racist”? Why or why not? | No. While some people have racist beliefs due to lack of interaction with people outside their own race, I believe we have a system that gives people of all races and socio economic backgrounds a chance to succeed. We are the best country in the world. That is why everyone regardless of race, religion, sex, you name it wants to come here. Even with our flaws we are place where all can prosper if thats what they choose to do. |
6. What are your thoughts on “Comprehensive Sex Education”, “Diversity Equity and Inclusion”, and “Social Emotional Learning”? Should these be a part of our public education curriculum or supplemental learning materials or left to parents to teach and why? | These are all buzz words that sound nice but really stand for indoctrinating our kids into a belief in government over God. Again, parents should be in charge of teaching their children about sex. The only exception would be from a biological perspective like anatomy or biologically this is what a male is. This is what a woman is. This is how they are different and you cannot change that. DEI is a tool to keep us divided into groups by race and social emotional learning has been used in a way that teaches our children that they are weak and can retreat from life's many challenges. No they do not belong in our school. |
7. With declining academic achievement in reading, writing, math, and science in schools across the nation, how would you address these issues if elected? | We need to give our great teachers freedom to teach. Teachers are often bogged down with unreachable standards and unprecedented pressure to teach to a test instead of teaching the basics or foundation that is necessary to succeed. Reading, writing, and arithmetic should be the focus. One of my desire's is to bridge the gap between our district and the legislature so that we can work together for common sense legislation that works best for our students education. Currently our board ignores the conservative majority in the State House and openly rejects it's authority. We need to come together to provide an adequate education that our state constitution requires. |
8. Safety is a major concern for most families, how would you support and encourage safety measures for girls in their private spaces, if elected? | Girls should have their own bathrooms and locker rooms. Boys absolutely should not be allowed to play in girls sports. It is not safe for a biological male to play sports with a biological female. God made us different for a reason and generally speaking men are stronger. Women's sports have come to far for it all to be wiped away by this proposed title IX legislation coming from the White House. We are lucky to live in a state where we will fight this for our young women. |
9. Do you believe Title IX is in jeopardy in our public education system today? | Yes. They are distorting it in a way that it will become inefficient in protecting our girls. |
10. Do you have any other endorsements? If so, please list them. | At this time I do not. I have been told I am too Christian, too conservative, however, I have a great group of about 30 active volunteers and I have raised more money than either of my competitors(one has contributed a great deal of his own money which is not evidence of support). I've personally knocked on over 1000 doors so far and have a stellar reputation as a work horse. My opponent's can't out work me and if God wants me on the board who can be against me? I am committed to the service of our children and our country and will put everything I have into making it great again. |
