KEY ISSUES | |
1. Provide the top 2 reasons why you want to run for school board? | Standing up for decency and common sense so our students are educated, not indoctrinated. |
2. Name the top 2 issues with your current school board or district and how you will address each issue. | 1) Growth -- We're currently the fastest growing district in the state of Texas, according to our demographer https://pasatx.com. I publicly supported our recent Bond, Prop A, which provides the money necessary to continue building for our tremendous growth. 2) Becoming a District of Innovation. 90% of ISD's in TX are DOI's. We are not but our administration wants us to becoming one. Some people say the word "Innovation" should be replaced with "Exemption," because this will allow the district to be exempt from portions of the TX Education Code. I'm very involved in the meetings and reading all I can about this matter. I'm known to be a Board member who listens and personally answers all good-faith emails that I receive. |
3. Do you support school choice? Why or why not? | Yes. As a product of TX public school myself, my own two children are enrolled in a private university model school called Logos Prep. I believe school choice is necessary to continue educating the population with a "general diffusion of knowledge," as the TX Constitution calls for. Having to pay twice to educate my children is not a fair process. The "one size fits all students" approach to public education no longer works in a world where the definition of male/female has been skewed. |
4. Who do you think is the ultimate authority in a child’s education and wellbeing? | Parents. |
5. Do you agree with the statement “America is inherently racist”? Why or why not? | No. As Rush Limbaugh to use say, America IS the remedy to the world's problems. He was not speaking spiritually but rather politically. While not perfect, the USA is constantly striving to build a stronger union, correcting mistakes as time goes on. |
6. What are your thoughts on “Comprehensive Sex Education”, “Diversity Equity and Inclusion”, and “Social Emotional Learning”? Should these be a part of our public education curriculum or supplemental learning materials or left to parents to teach and why? | These should be left to the parents because our Creator teaches us through the Scriptures to teach children about the world, about growing up and about how to overcome obstacles in life. When so many in public education have a godless worldview, they will approach all of these subjects in a secular humanistic manner. |
7. With declining academic achievement in reading, writing, math, and science in schools across the nation, how would you address these issues if elected? | Texas law does not task Board members of public school districts to directly touch these areas. Rather, we put policies in place and the Superintendent works to implement them. Thus, if we're seeing poor math scores, for instance, our solution in to give the Superintendent the resources he needs in order to improve math comprehension. Having a working relationship with the Superintendent is important. |
8. Safety is a major concern for most families, how would you support and encourage safety measures for girls in their private spaces, if elected? | I've said numerous times at our Board meetings and on social media, Safety is as important to me as academics. WHATEVER our police department and superintendent say that they need in the way of man-power and equipment, I'll vote to support. |
9. Do you believe Title IX is in jeopardy in our public education system today? | Yes. Our chromosomes XX/XY tell not only our sex but our gender. As the father of two teen daughters, boys pretending to be girls have no place in Women sports. |
10. Do you have any other endorsements? If so, please list them. | From the Sweetgrass Republican Club in Richmond, TX. This is not a monetary endorsement but their members are the ones who got me elected in 2019. |
