KEY ISSUES | |
1. Provide the top 2 reasons why you want to run for school board? | I believe in the American Dream. With a strong education system focused on academics, students can receive the knowledge necessary to succeed in today’s world. All great societies depend on an education system rooted in facts and not political partisanship. With my experience, I have witnessed student discipline problems, among many other aspects of the school system, first-hand. I will bring my experience running a nonprofit to the district to ensure efficiency and responsibility are maintained. I am ready to bring my time, energy, and fresh perspective to the Board to make the MPSD great for all parents, students, teachers, staff, and members of the community. |
2. Name the top 2 issues with your current school board or district and how you will address each issue. | (1) There are a variety of pornographic books available to students via the school library. Right now, the district is working on a library plan, which will take until the 26-27 school year to finish. I believe that is an unnecessary amount of time and can be completed within a month. This plan needs to be in order to get these books removed. (2) There is special interest materials in the district. On classroom doors and walls, LGBT stickers, flags, and other "ally" stickers, which corresponds to the ALLY special interest group in Manitowoc, are displayed. I would have these be removed at once. No special interest materials should be displayed. |
3. Do you support school choice? Why or why not? | Yes. With school choice, if a child's current school is not working out, the parents can choose to send their child to another school that is the best fit for the family. If the parents decide that private school or homeschool is a better choice, they deserve the right to have those options. Allowing parents to send their kids to private school or homeschool them is an important right which must be preserved. When schools are under a system allowing school choice, they are naturally encouraged to be consistently improving. They are also held accountable this way, along with the school district. That is why in most states with school choice, most parents do not switch the schools their kids attend. I would like to look at two states with school choice policies. In 2002, Florida implemented a school choice program. At that time, the state was ranked 33 nationwide in educating low-income students. In 2019, Florida became number one in the nation. During that same time frame, Indiana also implemented a school choice program. This caused the state to go from being ranked 22 nationwide in educating low-income students, to number three in the nation. That is the power of school choice. School choice is also important for the preservation of parental rights. Parents deserve to be involved with and have the power to make choices over their children's education. Parents know what is best for their children. |
4. Who do you think is the ultimate authority in a child’s education and wellbeing? | The parents. |
5. Do you agree with the statement “America is inherently racist”? Why or why not? | I vehemently disagree. I believe Critical Race Theory, and any similar ideas, should not be taught in schools or applied. America has come a long way from what life was like 100 - 200 years ago. |
6. What are your thoughts on “Comprehensive Sex Education”, “Diversity Equity and Inclusion”, and “Social Emotional Learning”? Should these be a part of our public education curriculum or supplemental learning materials or left to parents to teach and why? | These should be left to parents to teach. Over the past few years, ideas like these have been uncovered and have caused national controversy. When you have ideas like these that cause such problems, you cannot have every child be taught that. |
7. With declining academic achievement in reading, writing, math, and science in schools across the nation, how would you address these issues if elected? | Currently, the Manitowoc school district has a new reading program which has increased scores 20% over the past year alone. This curriculum needs to be preserved. For the other subjects, if a curriculum is not working, others need to be looked into. It is not worth the money if a program is not working. |
8. Safety is a major concern for most families, how would you support and encourage safety measures for girls in their private spaces, if elected? | We need to remove gender identity language in all policies which contain such language. Gender identity allows boys who identity as girls to use their private spaces. You should only be allowed to enter private spaces which correspond to your biological sex. |
9. Do you believe Title IX is in jeopardy in our public education system today? | I believed over the past year it was, but now with a new presidential administration, secretary of education, and perhaps the elimination of the Department of Education, I believe Title IX will be saved on January 20. Over the past year, though, it was horrible that the new guidelines included gender identity wording in the definition of sex. As the founding Vice Chair of the Manitowoc County chapter of Moms for Liberty, I got to work right away to get every school in our district exempt, and did. |
10. Do you have any other endorsements? If so, please list them. | Not yet for this year, but when I ran last year, I was endorsed by Gays Against Groomers. |
