KEY ISSUES
1. Provide the top 2 reasons why you want to run for school board?

1) I want to promote an atmosphere that improves relationships between the community and the district through accountability and transparency.
2) Improve academic standards in the education setting that will provide educational opportunities that are individualized to meet each student's needs.

2. Name the top 2 issues with your current school board or district and how you will address each issue.

1) McKinney ISD is not providing the correct checks and balances regarding financials and policies. They are often making decisions behind closed doors and not having any open discussion prior to voting. I am prepared and willing to ask the hard questions and bring the open dialogue to the community. Holding the district accountable for all decisions made should be a top priority.
2)The failure to address the concerns of the stakeholders has resulted in division within the community. The public has very little time to address the board member at each meeting. Many times, speakers are limited to 1 minute to speak in the open meeting. I would like to bring a townhall style meeting to our community in order to make sure all voices are heard.

3. Do you support school choice? Why or why not?

Yes, I believe school choice is a great tool for the parents to have. Each child has different needs and to have the opportunity to allow the child to attend a school that fits their needs is a huge benefit. Educational needs of a child should be in the parents' control.

4. Who do you think is the ultimate authority in a child’s education and wellbeing?

The parents should always have the ultimate authority in their child's education and wellbeing. Parental rights are being stripped away across this nation and we must stand in the gaps to be able to protect our children.

5. Do you agree with the statement “America is inherently racist”? Why or why not?

No, America is a nation with many diversities. We should embrace the different cultures America has to offer instead of allowing the continued division some people are trying to create.

6. What are your thoughts on “Comprehensive Sex Education”, “Diversity Equity and Inclusion”, and “Social Emotional Learning”? Should these be a part of our public education curriculum or supplemental learning materials or left to parents to teach and why?

Comprehensive Sex Education should be left to the parents to decide what and when is the right time to have these discussions. Parents know their children best and should be in control of this very subject.
Diversity Equity and Inclusion is only making the division worse in our society. This is dividing our students not including them. Children are not wired to treat others by their sex or color of their skin. This is a learned behavior, and we must stop using this as the divisive tool it has become.
If we could return to Classical Social Emotional Learning curriculum, I would be more apt to embrace this style of learning, however the current social emotional learning has caused children to express outward without learning how to deal with their own emotions. When you are not able to address or deal with your own emotions, you cannot truly help others. Many children are being taught they are not good enough causing depression and suicidal thoughts. We need to return to a classical education that is the core building blocks of education.

7. With declining academic achievement in reading, writing, math, and science in schools across the nation, how would you address these issues if elected?

I would like to see us go back to fact based, age appropriate, classical education where the basic fundamentals of education are the primary focus.

8. Safety is a major concern for most families, how would you support and encourage safety measures for girls in their private spaces, if elected?

Absolutely no co-mingling in private spaces. We need clear policies that will protect our students and their privacy when in private spaces.

9. Do you believe Title IX is in jeopardy in our public education system today?

Title IX should be preserved in its original form. I do believe if any changes would be made it would cause great harm to our children and the public education system.
