KEY ISSUES
1. Provide the top 2 reasons why you want to run for school board?

A familiar adage states: As goes Texas goes the country. The same can be said about Harris County. As it goes, so goes Texas. The public education system in Houston is being used to raise an army against its own citizenry. I cannot sit idly by and watch it happen. There needs to be a course correction in curriculum, teaching materials, and school climate--areas I intend to influence as trustee--if we are to preserve American liberties. Running for school board also provides a platform for speaking to the conscious of the people, and, hopefully changing some minds for the better.

2. Name the top 2 issues with your current school board or district and how you will address each issue.

Apart from too many low-performing campuses, in large part due to problems rooted in circumstances beyond the control of the school, the top two issues plaguing Houston ISD is administrative bloat and ineffective teachers. Houston ISD is the largest employer in the county, with many positions resulting from political payback. There is significant bloat. And to address it I would call for a thorough audit of every job in the district for redundancy. I would also call for individual teachers to be audited for their suitability to teach their respective subjects. I would then call for any necessary cuts. The district is facing a $215 million budget shortfall. Alleviating some of the administrative/staff bloat is one way to decrease costs.

3. Do you support school choice? Why or why not?

I support parents choosing how and where to educate their children whether that is homeschooling or sending their children to public, private, or charter school. I do, however, have concerns that vouchers could ultimately undermine the liberties homeschoolers and private schools currently enjoy since government funding always comes with strings attached.

4. Who do you think is the ultimate authority in a child’s education and wellbeing?

Parents and not government are the ultimate authority in a child's education and wellbeing. Responsible for the children's academic, moral, and religious upbringing. Period.

5. Do you agree with the statement “America is inherently racist”? Why or why not?

I would say it depends on how we are defining racist. If by racist we mean obsessed with skin color, I would argue that yes--some people have an unhealthy fixation with skin color. But if by racist we mean America is systemically oppressive, I would argue: America can't be racist. She is not structured that way and has not been for a very long, long time.

6. What are your thoughts on “Comprehensive Sex Education”, “Diversity Equity and Inclusion”, and “Social Emotional Learning”? Should these be a part of our public education curriculum or supplemental learning materials or left to parents to teach and why?

Anatomy and physiology are appropriate subjects for upper classmen and I would even go so far as to say a feature of quality curriculum. Sex education on the other hand is an entirely different issue that should be left to parents to impart on their children. DEI is nothing short of indoctrination, and a misguided attempt at legislating thinking. It is also harmful to society as it actually creates more of what its proponents claim to want to eradicate. And while a child might benefit from proper socialization with peers, the values at the core of these interpersonal relationships are decided and instilled by parents who are the ultimate authority of their children's upbringing.

7. With declining academic achievement in reading, writing, math, and science in schools across the nation, how would you address these issues if elected?

Although likely to be unpopular even controversial, I would remove Chromebooks as well as all other screens from the classrooms and return to traditional methods of learning such as reading actual books and putting pens and pencils to paper. Teachers would be required to be subject matter experts, and after eliminating SEL students would then have more time to spend on learning to read, write and do math and science.

8. Safety is a major concern for most families, how would you support and encourage safety measures for girls in their private spaces, if elected?

I am not a proponent of boys in girls spaces. Nor am I in favor of further burdening the taxpayer with expenditures such as creating spaces for children suffering an identity crises. However, providing a separate space for these children may be the most viable option despite costs since sending those children to a separate special needs school so to speak might be viewed as segregation and discriminatory.

9. Do you believe Title IX is in jeopardy in our public education system today?

I do. I am particularly concerned about the use of the term 'gender' on just about every government form to solicit 'sex' as in whether one is male or female. I fear that one day data collected from those forms will be used to validate public "acceptance" of gender ideology when in fact many Americans don't but in fact are confused by the definition of terms. As a school board on of my first efforts would be to change this language in all school-related forms.
