KEY ISSUES | |
1. Provide the top 2 reasons why you want to run for school board? | 1. Provide a safe, quality learning environment that is conducive for students and beneficial for teachers. |
2. Name the top 2 issues with your current school board or district and how you will address each issue. | 1. Student learning and safety. Discipline is a major problem in our district, and a stronger discipline policy will help both of those issues. Additionally, we need a strong, proven curriculum that aligns vertically with the various grades and is not changed every few years to try the "latest - greatest" curriculum that has not been tried and tested. Teachers in our district are frustrated by the lack of discipline and administrative support, as well as having to constantly write and re-write their curriculum. |
3. Do you support school choice? Why or why not? | Yes, I support school choice. Parents need to be able to choose the best fit for each of their children. Historically, competition makes both/all of the competitors provide a better product. |
4. Who do you think is the ultimate authority in a child’s education and wellbeing? | Parents / guardians |
5. Do you agree with the statement “America is inherently racist”? Why or why not? | No, I do not agree with that statement. While there is still work to be done to overcome racism, this country is not inherently racist. Unfortunately, many organizations have twisted our American history to support their anti-American beliefs. |
6. What are your thoughts on “Comprehensive Sex Education”, “Diversity Equity and Inclusion”, and “Social Emotional Learning”? Should these be a part of our public education curriculum or supplemental learning materials or left to parents to teach and why? | All of those are ways that our current culture is waging war on our children, trying to teach things that are harmful to our children. Character issues and values based on historical American Christian values need to be taught and reinforced at appropriate grade levels without the "hijacking" of values that we often see today in the educational setting. These values would align and reinforce what parents teach in the home. |
7. With declining academic achievement in reading, writing, math, and science in schools across the nation, how would you address these issues if elected? | Provide quality and proven instruction techniques; provide continuity of curriculum with vertical alignment; provide immediate and appropriate consequences to misbehavior; work to engage parents and community members in the educational process; identify quality teachers and retain them. |
8. Safety is a major concern for most families, how would you support and encourage safety measures for girls in their private spaces, if elected? | No transgender students using bathroom or athletic facilities opposite of their biological gender determined at conception. |
9. Do you believe Title IX is in jeopardy in our public education system today? | Title IX is in jeopardy due to proposed rule changes by the Biden administration. Among other problems, the proposed changes endanger women's sports (since any support of transgender athletes competing will automatically come at the expense of female athletes) and undermine parental rights. |
10. Do you have any other endorsements? If so, please list them. | Texas Church Leaders |
