Bryan Cawvey for Lansing School Board USD 469

KEY ISSUES
1. Provide the top 2 reasons why you want to run for school board?

Advocate for parental rights. Keep critical race and gender theory out of schools.

2. Name the top 2 issues with your current school board or district and how you will address each issue.

One issue is parent rights. Our district passed a parents bill of rights but has 4 seats up for election. Two conservative incumbents who voted for this will not be seeking reelection. We need to keep the majority or they may repeal our parents bill of rights. I will always advocate for respecting a parents right to direct the upbringing and education of their child.

3. Do you support school choice? Why or why not?

Yes. I think all parents have the constitutional right to direct the upbringing and education of their child. Choice would also bring competition and better achievement among all schools.

4. Who do you think is the ultimate authority in a child’s education and wellbeing?

Parents

5. Do you agree with the statement “America is inherently racist”? Why or why not?

No. This is not true and has been proven throughout our country’s history. This is a tenant that critical race theorists like to promote to cause division and racial conflict.

6. What are your thoughts on “Comprehensive Sex Education”, “Diversity Equity and Inclusion”, and “Social Emotional Learning”? Should these be a part of our public education curriculum or supplemental learning materials or left to parents to teach and why?

I do not think these should be part of public education. DEI divides based on race and promotes critical race theory ideology. Sex Ed should be left to the parents. Teachers shouldn’t be talking to kids about sex or gender identity. SEL often contains bother CRT, DEI and gender theory along with taking away valuable educational time that teachers could use for academics. I am against SEL

7. With declining academic achievement in reading, writing, math, and science in schools across the nation, how would you address these issues if elected?

I would like to eliminate the twenty minutes each day our district spends on SEL and spend that time reading which will increase reading levels which in turn increase achievement in all subjects especially after the third grade. If students are not at grade level by 3rd grade in reading they often never catch up.

8. Safety is a major concern for most families, how would you support and encourage safety measures for girls in their private spaces, if elected?

Students need to use the restroom and locker room according to their sex at birth and not what sex they are choosing to identify as.

9. Do you believe Title IX is in jeopardy in our public education system today?

Yes, I believe the Biden administration is trying to force transgender ideology to be included and force girls to compete with boys among other issues. It is wrong.

10. Do you have any other endorsements? If so, please list them.

I have applied for endorsement for Kansans for Life, a pro life organization and the 1776 Project PAC. They have not yet announced endorsements for Kansas.
