KEY ISSUES | |
1. Provide the top 2 reasons why you want to run for school board? | January of this year, our family lost our beloved son, brother, friend. My son Cruz Burris was a victim of fentanyl poisoning. He found a drug dealer on social media and purchased what he thought was a Percocet pill for $10. The fake drug had enough fentanyl that killed him instantly. my mission and crusade in life is to spread awareness of this horrible drug…. I do not want another parent to lose her child. I think if there was any awareness offense at all in our middle and high schools, circumstances may have been a bit different. Although we see the Fetanyl crisis on the news… And his parents have spoken to our children. There needs to be additional education That I would like to introduce to her Lansing School system. |
2. Name the top 2 issues with your current school board or district and how you will address each issue. | I would like to address any bullying but it’s happening in our school system. The issues need to be addressed immediately Western detention to the students and one on one conversations with the parents. I’m afraid the bullying has gotten so far as we are beginning to lose more lives to teenagers due to suicide. |
3. Do you support school choice? Why or why not? | Yes. I think a parent should have the right to choose which school system to enroll their student. We have a neighboring school system, which in my opinion is not as structured or safe as a Lansing school district. There have been several of my children’s parents who have enrolled their children in our Lansing system. |
4. Who do you think is the ultimate authority in a child’s education and wellbeing? | The ultimate authority in a child’s education and well-being. Of course is the parents. |
5. Do you agree with the statement “America is inherently racist”? Why or why not? | America is not inherently racist. What is happening in our country is we continue to shove the word racism down everyone’s throat and social media on the news and talkshows. The only way to get rid of racism is not discuss it. We are all Americans. |
6. What are your thoughts on “Comprehensive Sex Education”, “Diversity Equity and Inclusion”, and “Social Emotional Learning”? Should these be a part of our public education curriculum or supplemental learning materials or left to parents to teach and why? | Parents and only parent should be responsible to educate their children on the above subjects. |
7. With declining academic achievement in reading, writing, math, and science in schools across the nation, how would you address these issues if elected? | I would definitely like to promote no CERT, but focus on ABC. We need to look at the schools curriculum. We need to clean out all the nonsense courses and put a heavy emphasis on reading writing, and American history. |
8. Safety is a major concern for most families, how would you support and encourage safety measures for girls in their private spaces, if elected? | There will be zero tolerance for any person, other than a female to be allowed to use for female facilities, as in restrooms for changing for Jim’s. Zero tolerance |
9. Do you believe Title IX is in jeopardy in our public education system today? | As far as my knowledge, I don’t think title IX is in jeopardy. This is a ton of that also protect students from sexual harassment and assault. |
10. Do you have any other endorsements? If so, please list them. | I would like to ensure there is a stern emphasis on United States history. I would like to push to continue to promote patriotism, and the American way of life in our classes. |
