KEY ISSUES | |
1. Provide the top 2 reasons why you want to run for school board? | To restore parental rights and involvement in the schools and to raise student performance. |
2. Name the top 2 issues with your current school board or district and how you will address each issue. | First, students aren't performing well and are below even the state's average statistics. And second, the board is school board is corrupt in everything they do. I would address each issue by figuring out where the disconnect is between teachers and students in all the schools and immediately try to rectify the problem. It is a big task when you have such corruption for years in the schools here. And as far as the school board, I would just imagine that this will be more difficult to do, but it must be done. The board needs to go. The current trustees have lost sight of what their responsibilities are and the corruption is disgusting. I haven't figured exactly how to deal with this other than to run for a seat myself. That is the first step for me. |
3. Do you support school choice? Why or why not? | I do support school choice. Parents need to make sure their kids are in an environment where they are thriving, not surviving. We have set a standard that our kids go to battle, not school. Many are perfecting the victim mentality as a means to survive the school year. In my opinion, it is a defense mechanism for children. And I would even go so far as assuming that is why we have so many children struggling, on meds, in therapy, and even committing suicide- Sadly. That isn't an environment where kids thrive. Parents should be given the choice, not the school district boundary or state. That is too much government intruding on families- which is a whole other topic! |
4. Who do you think is the ultimate authority in a child’s education and wellbeing? | The ultimate authority in a child's education and wellbeing is the parents. It isn't the school/teachers. It is the parents. The school district should never be allowed to tell a family how or what is best for the student. Parents know best and it is time that the school district moves out of the way of the family. |
5. Do you agree with the statement “America is inherently racist”? Why or why not? | No, I do NOT agree that America is inherently racist. I feel there are a lot of ignorant adults in our society, but they don't make up the majority of America, thankfully! |
6. What are your thoughts on “Comprehensive Sex Education”, “Diversity Equity and Inclusion”, and “Social Emotional Learning”? Should these be a part of our public education curriculum or supplemental learning materials or left to parents to teach and why? | CRT/CSE/SEL/DEI/BHE and any other related woke curriculum shouldn't be allowed in our schools. It doesn't help students to succeed. If anything, it is crippling to their already fragile thinking system. I don't believe any of these things should be a part of the public curriculum or materials in the classrooms. And yes, parents should have the final say on what is being taught. That is why school choice is important. Unfortunately, just like the students, the parents need to be better educated on options and resources available to them. |
7. With declining academic achievement in reading, writing, math, and science in schools across the nation, how would you address these issues if elected? | My School district is definitely one of those declining in all the basic education fields. If elected, I have many policies that I want to review and possibly repeal or heavily revise. I feel that the restrictions put on staff and educators have stifled the creativity in the classroom. I want to put life back into learning, but I also am aware that has not been a priority for a long time and is probably buried deep. So, it will take time but it is something that can be done with better school board trustee's. |
8. Safety is a major concern for most families, how would you support and encourage safety measures for girls in their private spaces, if elected? | Absolutely safety is a major concern. I don't know any family that doesn't have at least one concern toward our schools in general today. However, when it comes to the locker rooms and bathrooms, that is my concern. Girls are more vulnerable in these spaces for sure, but I would include boys to this as well. Society isn't teaching our boys to be boys and to stick up for themselves anymore. It has diminished the boys ability to be masculine and therefore are vulnerable to this just as much as girls are. However, I would support and encourage safety measures for all students by not voting for policies that will put our children in harms way. But going back to one of my other comments above, the parents are the ultimate stakeholders in their child's education and I would be in favor of families electing to remove their kids from a school where they didn't feel safe-for any reason. It isn't the school's job to tell families what safety looks like. It is the parent's job to tell the school... |
9. Do you believe Title IX is in jeopardy in our public education system today? | I believe that Title IX is in jeopardy if our public education system continues down the path it is going. |
10. Do you have any other endorsements? If so, please list them. | I have a B.A. from Boise State University in English w/ an emphasis in writing. |
