KEY ISSUES | |
1. Provide the top 2 reason why you want to run for office. | As a mother of three young children and the wife of a dedicated law enforcement officer, I am compelled to run for state senate to bring common sense back to Springfield, advocate fiercely for parental rights, and staunchly support our law enforcement officers. These pillars represent my commitment to ensuring a better future for our state. I believe in practical solutions, defending the rights of parents to make informed choices for their families, and providing unwavering support to those who protect and serve our communities. |
2. Name the top 2 issues in your county, state, or federal district that you wish to address and how? | I believe that the most pressing issues facing the residents of my district are rising taxes from legislators in Springfield and increased crime. |
3. Do you support defunding the police? | As the wife of a law enforcement officer I would never vote to defund the police. I truly believe this only puts our public safety on the line and leaves our law enforcement officers missing life saving training, staffing and equipment. Illinois has implemented extremely problematic legislation, like the Safe T Act, that emboldened criminals and reduces the abilities of law enforcement officers to do their job efficiently. I promise to always be a voice for our LEOs, first responders and advocate for the safety of our community. |
4. What are your thoughts on “Diversity Equity and Inclusion”? Should this be implemented as training for county/city/federal employees? Why or why not? | I do not support training that further sows division in our communities. While I believe everyone should have a seat at the table when discussing issues In the community I do not support DEI initiatives that place inaccurate stereotypes on people from different races and limit people ability to prosper. |
5. With growing pressure to accommodate various lifestyles/identities how would you manage to keep your city/town safe and family friendly? | although I am a firm believer in freedom of speech and personal identity, I do not believe it is the responsibility of our towns and cities to prioritize one lifestyle over another. Our shared spaces in our community are for all to enjoy and should be a place for finding common ground to work towards shared goals- not for political activism. To keep all community members safe we need to be enforcing our laws on public decency, doxing, and make sure that our most vaunerable, the children, are protected from nudity, violence and inappropriate adult content. |
6. Do you think involving residents in decision making in your city/town is important? Why or not? | I believe whole heartedly that the public should have the ability to give direct input into major decisions that will affect their community, their lives and their liberties. Our Residents need to know that their concerns are being honestly represented by their leaders in Springfield. The only way to achieve that is by actively engaging the residents. through town halls, resident surveys, civic education, ballot referendums and door-to-door conversations as legislators we can fully grasp what our residents truly need. Now is the time to restore trust, work together and make Illinois a place where people want to live again. |
7. If you received a $1 million grant to use for the city/town/county any way you wanted, what would you do with it and why? | I would invest in our districts sidewalk/bike path connectivity. As our district has expanded we have seen a large influx of semitruck traffic and many of our residents are scared for their children and family members as they pass through busy intersections. They have expressed their need for safe passage for bike and foot traffic. I would asses the most dangerous areas and use that money to enhance safety measures that would further protect the residents of district 19. |
8. What is your opinion on sanctuary cities/autonomous zones within your city/town? | I am firmly against sanctuary policy and autonomous zones in our cities. Living in Illinois I have seen the effect Sanctuary Status has had on our state. With the continued lack of a strong border at the federal level my state has seen thousands of non-citizens migrate to the city of Chicago and it's suburbs. The influx of migrants is a direct result of Governor JB Pritzker’s behavior and open door policy for those who are undocumented to come to our state. The Governor has funded over 1 billion dollars in free healthcare for migrants. The State of Illinois has also invested hundreds of millions into housing, food and transportation for migrants coming into our state. This has created an unsustainable financial crisis in a state that already has an ever increasing unfunded pension liability knock at the door. It is time Illinois politicians put the taxpayers first for once. |
9. What are your thoughts on mandating the closure of privately owned businesses due to public health concerns aside from code violations? | I staunchly oppose the arbitrary closure of privately owned businesses over health concerns unrelated to code violations. Illinois has long been governed by an ultra-progressive supermajority, pushing through legislation at breakneck speed. Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, our state imposed some of the strictest mandates in the nation, directly impacting our economy. The shuttering of small businesses left countless families without livelihoods, a grave error I adamantly reject. I vow never to endorse such draconian lockdown measures again. Furthermore, our leadership persists on infringing on our citizens' constitutional rights, a direct contradiction to the warnings of our nation's founding fathers. With Illinois ranking among the highest states for resident out-migration, it's abundantly clear that these policies are failing our people. It's time for a change—a return to common-sense governance that respects our freedoms and fosters economic prosperity for all." |
10. Who is the ultimate authority over the health and safety of the people in your city/town? | I am of the opinion that the constituents within my district possess the bodily autonomy to discern and determine their own health and safety measures, thereby selecting the most appropriate path for their families. I do not support a governing body that would force health decisions on the residents of my district. |
11. Are you endorsed by other organizations? If so, which ones? | I have been endorsed in my primary by the Chicago Tribune. |
12. Do you support making laws to protect life keeping in mind there are many views on what this means? | Yes |
