KEY ISSUES
1. Provide the top 2 reason why you want to run for office.

I want to continue the work of leading our Village while attempt to lower property taxes and promote family values.

2. Name the top 2 issues in your county, state, or federal district that you wish to address and how?

1. Property Taxes- Working with new board members to build a coalition to force the Village Administration to lower the tax levy during the budget process.

2. Promoting family values- Working with different civic groups and organizations to bring more family friendly activities to the Village and to budget for the same so the taxpayer is seeing a return on their taxes.

3. Do you support defunding the police?

Absolutely not! I am a retired/disabled police officer. We need well funded and well trained police departments to fight back the increasing crime rates we are all experiencing.

4. What are your thoughts on “Diversity Equity and Inclusion”? Should this be implemented as training for county/city/federal employees? Why or why not?

I am not opposed to diversity in the context of having a diverse population with many cultures. I am opposed to job or educational opportunities being denied to individuals because the organization is seeking to be diverse. As an example- the best qualified person for the job should be offered the job.

Inclusion defined as the practice of providing equal access to opportunities and resources to those who may otherwise be marginalized or excluded is positive because everyone should have the same access to opportunities and resources if they are qualified.

I do not support equity and prefer to support equality because equality means that everyone is given the same resources or opportunities rather than picking one group over another thus disenfranchising the group that is not the preferred group.

People should be given equal access and opportunities and be allowed to succeed on their own merits.

5. With growing pressure to accommodate various lifestyles/identities how would you manage to keep your city/town safe and family friendly?

The lessons i have learned with regard to keeping the town family friendly is to ask a multitude of questions to groups and organizations that come before the Village Board to host events. These questions have to be pointed and direct with regard to what is going to go on at the different events that the organizers are seeking approval for. If the questions cannot be answered or the responses are vague, the board should either give the applicant more time to come back with answers or vote it down if they refuse to come back with answers.

6. Do you think involving residents in decision making in your city/town is important? Why or not?

Involving residents in decision making is very important because we are elected as their representatives. Elected officials have a responsibility to communicate and involve their constituents as much as possible in decision making.

7. If you received a $1 million grant to use for the city/town/county any way you wanted, what would you do with it and why?

I would convene a meeting of the various charitable organizations in town such as the Lions Club, Kiwanis Club, Church groups, etc. to see where the money was needed the most. The results of the meeting would be discussed with the Village Board and we would collaboratively decide as to the best use of the funding to help the largest amount of residents.

8. What is your opinion on sanctuary cities/autonomous zones within your city/town?

I am opposed to autonomous zones anywhere as we are governed by laws that should be followed and enforced. Sanctuary cities by their definition are sanctuaries from the current laws on the books

9. What are your thoughts on mandating the closure of privately owned businesses due to public health concerns aside from code violations?

During the pandemic I spoke openly as an elected official at Village Board meetings against the closure of businesses and criticized Governor Pritzker for doing so. We worked to come up with alternative ways for our businesses to remain open. I am against closing private businesses as It was done during the pandemic as it was massive government overreach and should not be done again in a similar situation

10. Who is the ultimate authority over the health and safety of the people in your city/town?

The Village Board, which consists of 6 Trustees and 1 Village President.

11. Are you endorsed by other organizations? If so, which ones?

Attempting to obtain the endorsement from SafeSuburbs USA
